Frequently Asked Questions
-
Who pays for hospice?Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurances cover hospice at 100%. Coverage includes medications, equipment and all hospice staff services.
-
What Is the difference between not-for-profit and for-profit hospice care?Not-for-profits use donations and monies raised through fundraising events to ensure they are able to provide amenities such as indigent care, extensive grief care services and education opportunities for caregivers and the public. On average, not-for-profit hospices spend more on comprehensive care for patients, provide more in-home care, and admit higher-cost and higher-acuity patients than for-profits. Not-for-profit hospices treat everyone, regardless of their ability to pay or their level of care needed.
