Electrophysiology (EP) is the study of the electrical system of the heart. Renown Health's highly trained cardiac electrophysiology team assesses the heart's electrical system and diagnoses abnormal heartbeats or arrhythmia. As the only IAC Cardiac Electrophysiology accredited facility in Nevada, we proudly demonstrate exemplary care and quality for all of our patients.

What is an Electrophysiologist?

An electrophysiologist is an expert in the heart's electrical system that controls heart rhythm—specifically trained to diagnose and treat arrhythmias. Our trained electrophysiologists treat common arrhythmias (like atrial fibrillation), rare arrhythmias and arrhythmias related to heart failure. Our team specializes in the treatment of:

Electrophysiology Services

Diagnostic Tests: Procedures such as electrophysiology studies, echocardiograms, and electrocardiograms (EKGs) help pinpoint the type of arrhythmia you have and the cause to determine the most effective treatment.

Cardiac Ablation Procedures: Minimally invasive procedures use heat (radiofrequency ablation) or cold (cryoablation) to block irregular electrical signals that cause arrhythmia, which helps restore a normal heartbeat—sometimes permanently.

Devices: We offer implantable devices that monitor your heart rhythm and ensure your heart beats normally. We specialize in device implants and extraction. These life-saving devices include:

  • Leadless Pacemakers
  • Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (ICD)
  • Subcutaneous Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (S-ICD)
  • Watchman Device

Medications: Medicine can help control your irregular heartbeat and prevent the problems it may cause, such as heart attack or stroke. We also offer medicine to help prevent blood clots, a common complication of certain types of arrhythmias.

In addition, have a dedicated ambulatory outpatient clinic to monitor patients post-device implant.

Fighting Atrial Fibrillation (AFib)

Bonnie Buckley had an acute AFib episode and was rushed to the ER. As part of her care plan, she transformed her lifestyle through diet and exercise with the help of the Renown Healthy Heart Rehabilitation Program.

ER Wait Times

How are wait times calculated?

Our estimated ER wait times reflect the average time from check-in to being seen by a medical professional during triage, where patients are prioritized based on the severity of their condition.
