We are seeking a dedicated, dynamic and skilled Licensed and Certified Pathologists' Assistant to join our physician-led multi-specialty medical group as a member of our established and expanding Pathology team. Position Details:

  • Full-time employed position with Renown Medical Group/Pathology Department
  • General Surgical Pathology Group.
  • Dedicated team of Pathologists and Pathologists' Assistants
  • Service to Renown hospitals – 800+ bed Level II Trauma Center
  • No call/No weekends
  • Should be comfortable grossing most complex cancers.
  • Will assist on interoperative cases
  • EMR: EPIC
  • Formal Academic Affiliation with University of Nevada, Reno School Medicine/Renown

Position Purpose

The Pathologists’ Assistant (PA) performs the functions of preparing for, performing and reporting postmortem examinations, and/or surgical specimen dissection under a licensed pathology physician’s supervision and direction.

Description
Education:
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.

Possess a Baccalaureate Degree with a major or minor in a biological science or an allied health field and a master’s degree in health science from a NAACLS Accredited University.
Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years of combined experience in surgical and autopsy pathology
License(s):
Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Pathologists’ Assistant license.
Certification(s):
Board Certified as a Pathologists’ Assistant through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or General Supervisor of a Licensed Laboratory (GSML), issued by the Department of Health and Human Services.
Board Certified as a Pathologists’ Assistant is preferred over the General Supervisor of a Licensed Laboratory.
Computer / Typing:
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
Ability to Credential through Renown’s Medical Staff and/or Payor Credentialing, as applicable.
