Biography

Dr. Ayzengart is a board-certified general surgeon at Renown Health, specializing in minimally invasive and robotic surgery for obesity, reflux, and complex esophageal and stomach disorders. He offers a full range of bariatric procedures—including gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, and revision surgeries—as well as non-surgical weight loss options, including GLP-1 and non-GLP-1 medications through Renown’s Pharmacotherapy department. No referral is needed, and patients receive personalized care plans tailored to their unique needs. He also treats GERD, stomach cancer, gallbladder disease, and hernias, using advanced techniques like robotic-assisted surgery with the da Vinci 5 system and therapeutic endoscopy. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), Dr. Ayzengart is a recognized leader in his field. He currently serves as Vice President of the California/Nevada chapter of ASMBS and has previously held leadership positions in the Florida, Puerto Rico, and Caribbean chapter. He is an active member of national surgical societies including the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT), and the American Foregut Society (AFS). Dr. Ayzengart is also committed to education and research. He serves as a clinical assistant professor of surgery at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, where he supports surgical training and academic development. He earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School and completed his general surgery residency at the University of California San Francisco. He pursued advanced fellowship training in laparoscopic, robotic, and bariatric surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. In addition to his civilian surgical experience, Dr. Ayzengart served as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps. He held roles as a staff surgeon at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Camp Pendleton and as department head at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Yokosuka, Japan.
